MT STATE OVERVIEW

Montana smoke forecast map and 48-hour outlook

Smoke varies across Montana. This page loads one NOAA HRRR-Smoke run and compares three named city grid cells; it never issues a statewide “clear” claim or describes unsampled areas.

What the interactive state map does

The browser downloads and decodes 17 discrete NOAA smoke frames once, samples the same rasters at the three named points, and presents independent summaries. The points are not averaged, ranked, or used to infer conditions elsewhere in Montana.

Each sample uses the Smoke Window-defined modeled-smoke scale, not AQI. Conditions between three-hour frames may differ. Use AirNow and official agencies for observed air quality and health guidance.
